Opinion time

I've been doing some thinking again. Darn brain. I'm 29 and working at a job I never could see me at. I love the people I work with, but it's not where I want to be. I've been thinking more and more about going back to school. I have a B.A. in Organizaitonal Communications. My main focus was on Training and Development. There was the thought of going back to school and get my masters. But is it to late? I graduated in 2002 and here I am now. Would they still let me do a masters? What type of masters degree would I want? Maybe stay in the communications field?
Also I started off at University of Akron studying Newswriting with a possibly of doing media production as a minor. Well, I fell in love with this business communication class and the rest is history.
At the time I graduated, the communication area seem to go downhill, there was nothing. Unless I wanted to do outside sales and that is one field I know I would be horrible in.
Now I'm wondering if it's too late to get back into journalism. Is it? Can a 29 year old soon to be 30 go back into newswriting? Figure it's going to take me a couple years.
Or should I think about going back for my masters, maybe focusing on newswriting or PR or mass media??? Any advice would be great.
I'm going to do some research this week and see what I find and maybe sit down with the parents.

  1. I don't think it's too late to go back to school, but if you go for your master's, make sure it's a subject you love. Grad school rewires your brain, and you don't want to be rewired into something you hate. Also it's a lot of work, and simply not worth it unless you love the subject.

I'm sure you'll find something that will fit, though. And communications has got to be a more useful degree than art history! :D
