Snow

I'm sitting at my desk looking out the window and not loving what I see. I know I've lived in Northeast Ohio now for over twenty years and should be use to it but I am definitely not a snow person. Sure give me snow for Christmas but now that Christmas is over, can I have my green grass? Although what's a New Years Day morning without digging out your car after a night of partys.

I do have to admit one thing though. I do like seeing the deer in the snow. Just saw three in the front yard. With the street completely covered in snow it looks like a winter wonderland. That's the only reason I pretty much like snow. Except for maybe when I was in grade school and we had snow days.

I do miss the days when you would get up in the morning and see a lot of snow and you would run to the TV to see if your school was listed. If it wasn't closed you would curse all the other schools that got a snow day.

You know what would be even greater? If work had snow days. Wouldn't you just love a call from your boss telling you not to come in? The closest I've ever gotten was in March last year when we had that huge snowstorm when the whole city pretty much closed down. I somehow made it to work. Actually my dad had to drive me. My little car would never have made it. Naturally a lot of people called off so we were short. The day is halfway over and our supervisor tells us to go home. It would have been so much better if she just called me at home and said not to come in.

I guess I'll stop complaining about snow. I'm sure I'll get people saying. "You live in Ohio. What do you expect?" My response? "A girl can dream."

  1. I'm the opposite. I love snow. For some reason Winter does isn't feel worth it if there isn't snow.

  3. I know what you mean. I lived in Michigan my whole life until about 18 years ago. I remember we hardly never had snow days. We would get on the bus and drive down snow and ice covered roads with yawning ditches on either side...pretty safe, huh?! I remember I loved the snow before and around Christmas, but as it drug on through the winter, the winter blues would kick in, especially as I got older. But now, living in Nashville I really miss the snow. We hardly ever get it =O( However, one good thing is that when it does snow, you usually do get to miss work! Everyone here freaks out, it's so funny! So those of us who know how to drive in it still benefit from other people's fear...LOL! It does get pretty dicey with the ice though, with all the hills here.
