HAPPY NEW YEAR

I just wanted to wish everyone a happy and safe new year's. This year I'm spending it with good friends. Nothing crazy or anything which I'm fine with. I do hope my friends realize though I'm going to beat them at Mario tonight. Ha, I wish. It's apparently a new Mario game so I'm going in with no clue what I'm doing. I can guarantee if we play rock band or guitar hero my friends will need to do really well because I haven't played in ages.

What are my goals this year? To get my novel ready to send out to the world than my second goal of course is the usual weight goal and I guess the third goal should be to find a good job. I might need that one, huh?

Again Happy 2010!!!!!!

Snow

I'm sitting at my desk looking out the window and not loving what I see. I know I've lived in Northeast Ohio now for over twenty years and should be use to it but I am definitely not a snow person. Sure give me snow for Christmas but now that Christmas is over, can I have my green grass? Although what's a New Years Day morning without digging out your car after a night of partys.

I do have to admit one thing though. I do like seeing the deer in the snow. Just saw three in the front yard. With the street completely covered in snow it looks like a winter wonderland. That's the only reason I pretty much like snow. Except for maybe when I was in grade school and we had snow days.

I do miss the days when you would get up in the morning and see a lot of snow and you would run to the TV to see if your school was listed. If it wasn't closed you would curse all the other schools that got a snow day.

You know what would be even greater? If work had snow days. Wouldn't you just love a call from your boss telling you not to come in? The closest I've ever gotten was in March last year when we had that huge snowstorm when the whole city pretty much closed down. I somehow made it to work. Actually my dad had to drive me. My little car would never have made it. Naturally a lot of people called off so we were short. The day is halfway over and our supervisor tells us to go home. It would have been so much better if she just called me at home and said not to come in.

I guess I'll stop complaining about snow. I'm sure I'll get people saying. "You live in Ohio. What do you expect?" My response? "A girl can dream."

Brittany Murphy

I came home today after church and a day of shopping to hurry and hop online to check my email. I'm thinking, "okay what time am I meeting my friend for coffee and where?" The first thing I see on my email? Brittany Murphy dead. I sat there thinking, what???? Pretty much like when Heath Ledger passed away. Heck when Jonathan Brandis died. Ah, Jonathan Brandis one of my first celebrity crushes. Still miss him.

Brittany Murphy who was only 32 was a favorite of mine. Will miss her.....

Born of Fire

I would have had this blog up last night but I fell asleep soon after I finished Born of Fire. What do I have to say about this book by Sherrilyn Kenyon? I loved it! Nothing against Born of Night but this one was better. Maybe it was because I liked the main couple more. I felt like there was more chemistry. Also to top that off I do like Syn but I thought he was paired nicely with Shahara.

Syn is a thief and Shahara is a seax. One is known for being evil and the other is known for bringing the evil to prison. Shahara is need of money so she goes out on a mission to bring in Syn who has charges against him for raping and murdering Kiara from the last book. Of course we know she is alive and well with Nykyrian. Syn puts up a good fight with her and she gets to know tiny bit about Syn. Could he actually be a good guy? She still turns him in but finds out what he did for her and her family. Feeling quilty she goes to free him from the prison. Naturally the book can't end there. Syn knows where a chip is that the villian of the book, Merjack wants. The two go to find it along with being on the run.

As the book moves on of course there is the love, hate relationship. Will they or won't they?

This is again another scifi romance but I definitely think you should check it out. The next in the series is Born of Ice which I hear has a cameo of Syn and Shahara. Can't wait to read it.

30

Where did my twenties go? Just seems like yesterday I was in college finishing up my final exams and turning twenty. Ah, to be young again.

Unfortunately I'm not where I wanted to be when I turned 30. But I'm not going to get upset by it. I figure the things we want we can't always get. I also wasn't planning on being jobless and still living at home with my parents, haha.

Where do I see myself a year from now? Honestly not sure yet. Hopefully a little closer to getting my book published. Maybe a steady job. Time will tell.

Born of Night

So I finished Born of Night by Sherrilyn Kenyon. This was also the first book I read by her. What do I have to say about it? Loved the book. I can't believe I never read her before. What the heck?

I wasn't sure if I was going to like it at first. I love romance books but I'm not a big sci fi reader. I've always been more fantasy than sci fi. Although there a few out there I like. Anyways, back to Born of Night.

This book takes place in the Ichidian Universe. I don't believe a year is ever mentioned. We'll just assume its the future or another galaxy. There is a league called The League who are assassins. A man named Nykyrian Quiakides abandons the League when he decides he can't live like them. He's pretty much on the run from them before the book and in the book. One of his assignments with his new team is to keep Kiara Zamir, a dancer safe. Thanks to her father who is in politics she is never safe and has had some close calls.

The two set out on an adventure of love and danger. The feelings are there but they fight those feelings. They refuse to believe them. It's one of many typical romance's. "I love you, I hate you." The way Sherrilyn writes it though. It makes you so involved in the plot, you want to know the next move. Will they or won't they?

Like other books I always love when you see the hero be this tough guy but yet under all those clothing he is just a nice guy. He just needs to find a way there. And Kiara might just do that.

One of my favorite characters in the book was definitely Syn. Why? I don't know. Maybe because in this book he's the sidekick you can't help but love. Although you also want to hate him because he doesn't believe in Kiara. He's always thinking she'll turn them in. Will he trust her in the end? Ha, like I'll tell you that. He is the main character in the second book of the series. So will love seeing him again.

My least favorite character in the book would be Kiara's father. In some ways I found him to be a villain. Sure he wants to protect her but he could have been there for her instead of letting her suffer.

I'm definitely looking forward to reading the next two. The second one is called Born of Fire and the third one is Born of Ice. From what I hear she'll be doing more books for The League. Can't wait. I hope we get to see Nykyrian and Kiara again. Time will tell I guess.

I do have to admit something. I kept waiting for a vampire to come in a scene. Sounds silly I'm sure but with all the vampire books I've been reading, I just keep waiting. Nykyrian has fangs. Does that count? Maybe to make up for it, I'll read another series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I think that's The Dark Hunter series? Am I right?

A Christmas Story

Another favorite Christmas movie of mine is A Christmas Story. I usually wait until Christmas Eve to watch it but I'm actually in the mood to watch it now. There are so many scenes that I love, it's hard to pick just one. But I think I'll go with this one.

I love this movie and yet I have to actually visit the house. I swear one of these days I will. It's in Cleveland and the sad thing is I live a half hour from Cleveland. You would think after twenty some years I would have been there, but nope. For anyone curious about the house here is the website....

Charly Girl

After 15 and a half years my parents and I lost our dog, Charlotte. I knew the day would come and I had a feeling it would be soon. This weekend she just wasn't eating. She was sleeping a lot. She just wasn't her usual self. I know she hasn't been herself for the past six months but I could just tell. I know she is in a better place. Maybe even chasing squirrels.

When my Dad came to get her this morning from my bedroom to take her to the vet. I just knew it. I don't even know how he did it. I know I could never do that.

Nothing against our other two dogs that we had. I loved them of course, but Charlotte nicknamed Charly is my favorite of them all. She has been around half of my life practically. We got her when I was fourteen and now here I am twenty-nine. May she rest in peace.
