Thought I would try something new where every Sunday I would do a book turned movie post.I was watching The Never-Ending Story this weekend and I mentioned it before about wanting to re-read the book. Now? I really do want to re-read the book. I was introduced to the movie first when I was a kid. I really didn't read the book until maybe I was ten. I think the first time I saw the movie I was maybe 5 or 6. It's been so long, I can barely remember. I just remember watching the VHS tape we had over and over. I never knew it was a book until I was at the library one day and went, oooh The Never-Ending Story. I'm glad I got it because I fell in love with the book. I remember re-reading it over and over. Eventually though as I grew up the book got buried and it disappeared. It's definitely a book I want to buy again.
I would have to say my favorite character in the book was Falkor. I have to admit though he was my favorite in the movie first but I fell in love with his character again in the book. I mean come on, who wouldn't want a luckdragon to fly on?
If you're a fan of Family Guy, you might remember this clip.
I think what I loved about this movie and book was the fact as a kid we all wanted to do that. Just hide somewhere and read. You became part of the story. Technically for us, we actually weren't sucked into the book but you get the idea, lol. If you haven't seen the movie yet, definitely go out and rent it.
Would I recommend the book first or the movie first? Honestly for this one, I'm not sure. I have a feeling though if I read the book first, I would have loved both still.
Both the movie and the book are incredible and you can't go wrong with either one.
