Play of Passion

Are you a fan of Nalini Singh? Here is the book cover for her Play of Passion in the Psy-Changeling series. You can read this one November 2010 at a bookstore or library near you. Or in many cases these days, an ebook :).

Fantasy Lover

If the rest of the Dark-Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon is as good as the first one, I know I'm going to love the series. The first book of the series is Fantasy Lover.

Julian of Macedon is a greek god. He was punished many, many years ago. His punishment? He is trapped in a book and when summoned, he has to be the woman's love slave.

One night, Grace Alexander and her friend Selena are summoning Julian. Selena believes this man will appear while Grace pretty much thinks it's crazy that some man will come out of a book.

Guess what? Julian appears to her after Selena leaves. She is shocked to see this naked man standing in her house. Julian is shocked himself. Grace doesn't want to have her way with him.

Grace is different from other women. She wants to show Julian the world, not her body. Naturally something has to go wrong. The two of them find out there is a way for his freedom. But what happens when he is free? Can the two be together? Could Julian live in a time of technology? Is Grace ready for love?

I know this was only the first book and there are many more to go but I hope we can see these characters again, even a few of the minor ones.

I really can't say this is my favorite yet since it's only number one but I'll let you know when I read the next Dark-Hunter :).

Goodreads Summary
Dear Reader, Being trapped in a bedroom with a woman is a grand thing. Being trapped in hundreds of bedrooms over two thousand years isn't. And being cursed into a book as a love-slave for eternity can ruin even a Spartan warrior's day. As a love-slave, I knew everything about women. How to touch them, how to savor them, and most of all how to pleasure them. But when I was summoned to fulfill Grace Alexander's sexual fantasies, I found the first woman in history who saw me as a man with a tormented past. She, alone, bothered to take me out of the bedroom and into the world. She taught me to love again. But I was not born to know love. I was cursed to walk eternity alone. As a general, I had long ago accepted my sentence. Yet now I have found Grace-the one thing my wounded heart cannot survive without. Sure, love can heal all wounds, but can it break a two thousand year old curse? Julian of Macedon

When ninjas steal an envelope from Melina, her search leads her to a Taoist temple in Old Sacramento, where the priests seem to practice Zen and the art of mayhem. Melina learns from the handsome ER doctor (and vampire) who gave her the envelope that it contained talismans created by the priests to control Chinese vampires, who are attacking gang members to spark a street war.

Although he may look more like a surfer than a cop, Ted Goodnight is dead serious about investigating the surge in gang violence. Taken from Henry V, King Henry is speaking

Tis not the balm, the sceptre, and the ball, the sword, the mace, the crown imperial, the intertissued robe of gold and pearl, the farced title running 'fore the king, the throne he sits on nor the tide of pomp that beats upon the high shore of this world-no, not all these, thrice-gorgeous Ceremony, not all these, laid in bed majestical, can sleep so soundly as the wretched slave who with a body filled and vacant mind gets him to rest, crammed with distressed bread.

Heirs to Darkisle

Heirs to Darkisle by Cassandra Pierce is a great vampire story and if you're looking for one, get this ebook.

We're introduced to Briana Dempsey and her brother Todd, brother and sister who grew up in Darkisle. Both of them are stuck in the town. Briana works at the family motel and Todd has become a drunk.
One night Todd and Ami, a girl he meets are trepassing at the old Morgan's house. Old Edgar Morgan has passed on so there shouldn't be any problems. Well guess what? It turns out his grandchildren have arrived, Sebastian and his sister, Ruby Morgan. Briana feels quilty for her brother's actions and want to make up for it. They come to an agreement and Todd will help repair the old house. She finds herself attracted to Sebastian. The two are drawn together and not before long, she finds out the truth. Sebastian and Ruby are vampires.
Just when everything seems to be going right for Briana something goes wrong and she starts to question the two vampires. Could she and her brother be in danger with Sebastian and Ruby in their lives?

I love that we didn't see the perfect vampire. Sebastian had his own issues to deal with. It's not easy coming back to your home, dealing with your grandchild, loving a human, and doing something brave enough that it will turn you weak and a mortal helps you.

The ending totally surprised me. I didn't even see it coming. I loved it though. I thought I had it figured out but nope, I was wrong.

This was the first book and I'm definitely looking forward to the next one. I hope it comes out soon.

Goodreads summary
Sebastian and Ruby Morgan arrived in the small seaside town of Darkisle, claiming to be the grandchildren of the reclusive Edgar Morgan, who recently died at the age of 108.

From the beginning, Briana Dempsey has her doubts the Morgans are who and what they claim to be. She is, however, certain of one thing. Sebastian Morgan unnerves her in ways she's never experienced before. His skin is cold, his eyes are hypnotic, and he seems to have no heartbeat. Yet all she can feel when she's with him is an all-consuming fire that fills her with desire.

When a local woman is murdered and Briana is implicated because of her involvement with the Morgans, she must confront the truth about the mysterious man she has fallen in love with. Is he the lover of her dreams, or the architect of her nightmare.

Everlasting Kiss

Everlasting Kiss by Amanda Ashley was my first book by her and I definitely can't wait to read her other books. Loved this one.

Daisy O'Donnell was raised in a family of vampire hunters. She took the easy way out and started her career as a blood thief. Someone who only steals the blood from the vampires while they are sleeping. Her brother, Alex followed in their father's footsteps and kills the vampires. One night at a club, her life is changed forever. She meets this man, Erik Delacourt who is dealing with his own issues. Someone is taking the blood of his fellow vampires and someone has killed one of them. Erik and Daisy meet and for awhile she thinks he is this great guy but uh-oh, the truth comes out and Daisy finds out who Erik really is. But what happens when Erik finds out the truth about her? And what happens when danger comes that could effect both of them?

Loved the chemistry between Daisy and Erik. I wouldn't mind seeing another book on the two but the way the book ended, I was left satisfied. Definitely check it out. Although I did find out there will be another book called Everlasting Desire. Which is actually based on a character from Everlasting Kiss which was Rhys Costain. He was a friend to Erik in the first book. I don't want to give out too much information on him because that would ruin the plot for you. Click here if you want information on this book.

Goodreads Summary
Desire Never Dies

Daisy O'Donnell doesn't get the attraction some women feel for vampires. She likes her men with a heartbeat. And she's just met one who's full of life: Erik Delacourt, the unreasonably sexy man she keeps meeting at a popular L.A. nightclub called the Crypt. She barely knows him, but there's no resisting the connection she feels. . .

There's one important detail Erik hasn't gotten around to telling her yet. He's a powerful vampire out to hunt the Blood Thief who is draining young vampires all over the city--and who has just raised the stakes by destroying one of Erik's friends. To Erik, Daisy is a bright spot of innocence in a world of darkness and menace. He'll do anything--even lie to her--to keep her safe and pure.

If only he knew that Daisy has something of her own to hide. . .

Vampire Diaries/Shadow Souls

I did it. I finally finished the latest installment of the Vampire Diaries Shadow Souls. I hate to say it but for me, I couldn't get into it. Which kinda sucked since I'm a fan of the book series. Well except the last one. I really hope the next one picks up. The sad thing is I thought this one would be better than the last one but for me it was worse.

Elena, Damon, and crew go on a mission to rescue Stefan. The girls enter the Dark Dimension as Damon's slaves since humans really can't walk free. Once they enter, there is a lot to deal with. I'm not even sure how to explain what goes on because I'm still trying to figure out what happened. I felt like we were jumping all over the place. Plus I was just confused. For me there were parts that just didn't make sense. We also didn't need a couple of the subplots. Yes subplots are needed but there were times I was thinking, okay that could have been a deleted scene. I'm also still trying to figure out what Matt and Ms. Flowers were doing back home.

The ending? Sure you can read it as a cliffhanger but it could have used more action or emotion. I read the reading and went, "Really, Seriously?" But that's all. I wasn't going, "Oh I so have to know what happens next." The ending to this book could be a great storyline for the next one. So I'm hoping Smith can pull it off.

I know the book centers around Elena and if she will choose Stefan or Damon but at this point, I'm thinking she'll take both for herself. Throughout the other books, I assumed there could be a connection between Damon and Bonnie. All of a sudden, that's gone. I wonder what Stefan will do when he finds out about Damon and Elena. I still like the short story, Smith wrote about Bonnie and Damon. You can find it on her website.

If you can't get into the series, I recommend the TV show. Love it!! It's pretty bad when I start to like the TV show better than the book series, lol.

Reading other reviews, it seems to be a mixed feeling for everyone. I see some like it and some don't. If you are a fan of the series, you should read this one especially for the ending.

Goodreads Summary
Elena Gilbert is at the center of magic and danger beyond her imagining. But this time her vampire boyfriend, Stefan, isn’t there to help! Elena is forced to trust her life to his brother, Damon, the handsome but deadly vampire who wants Elena, body and soul. The tension between Elena and Damon mounts until Elena is faced with a terrible decision: Which brother does she really want?

The drama, danger, and forbidden love that mark the New York Times bestselling Vampire Diaries series are in full effect here, with Elena Gilbert once again brimming with supernatural powers.

He grinned at her and his eyes glowed as red as the needle on her compass. "Welcome to my parlor, said the spider to the fly."

Something Borrowed

If you are looking for a good chick lit book I recommend Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin. I read this book when I was twenty-five and now as I read it at thirty. I can almost relate to the main character. At least at the part where she realizes she is thirty years old and single while her friends are getting married, having kids, etc.

It's the night of Rachel's thirtieth birthday and her oldest and best friend Darcy is throwing a party for her. By the end of the evening, Rachel finds herself sleeping with Dex, Darcy's man. The two also happen to be engaged. Before she knows it, the two are having an affair while Darcy has no clue. Rachel tries to forget about Dex but it's impossible. Even with the help of her friends Hillary and Ethan she can't stop thinking about Dex. In the end everyone's lives have changed forever; for the good and the bad.

There is also a book called Something Blue which is Darcy's story. I definitely want to re-read that one again after doing this one.
If you are into movies this one is due to be released in 2011. I personally can't wait to see it. Ginnifer Goodwin is going to be Rachel and Kate Hudson will be Darcy. I think both could do the characters justice. John Krasinski will be their friend Ethan. Dex, is to be played by Colin Egglesfield who was recently on Melrose Place. Not sure if I could see that. Marcus is rumored to be Colin Farrell. Not sure I could see that either.

Goodreads Summary
The New York Times bestselling novel about a woman who falls in love with a man she shouldn't.
Rachel is an attorney living and working in Manhattan who has always been the good girl-until her thirtieth birthday, when her best friend Darcy throws her a party. That night after too many drinks Rachel ends up in bed with Darcy's fiance. Although she wakes up determined to put the one-night fling behind her, Rachel is horrified to discover that she has genuine feelings for him.
As the September wedding date nears, Rachel has to choose. She discovers that the lines between right and wrong can be blurry, endings aren't always neat, and sometimes you have to risk it all to win true happiness.

Goodreads Summary
That hot guy tied to Lissianna Argeneau's bed? He's not dessert—he's the main course!

That's a question Dr. Greg might be willing to sink his teeth into . . . if he can just get Lissianna to bite.

Karen Chance's Touch The Dark

I finished Karen Chance's Touch The Dark today. It's the first in the Cassandra Palmer series. So far, so good. Can't wait to read the next one.

Cassie who is a clairvoyant was raised by the vampires from a young age. At the age of eleven her parents were killed and by the time she is in her teens she knows that Tony who is the vampire in charge of her had them killed. She runs away and of course it's not safe. After being in hiding she is found and before she knows it, people are after her. Actually I shouldn't say people, more like vampires and mages. There is a possibilty she could be the next Pythia who is someone very powerful. Besides finding out she might have more powers than she ever wanted she learns the truth of a friend she trusted and the truth about her parents.

I'm definitely curious to see where the series goes and how her relationship with Micrea.
Goodreads Summary
Cassandra Palmer can see the future and communicate with spirits;talents that make her attractive to the dead and the undead. The ghosts of the dead aren't usually dangerous; they just like to talk; a lot. The undead are another matter.

Like any sensible girl, Cassie tries to avoid vampires. But when the bloodsucking Mafioso she escaped three years ago finds Cassie again with vengeance on his mind, she's forced to turn to the vampire Senate for protection. The undead senators won't help her for nothing, and Cassie finds herself working with one of their most powerful members, a dangerously seductive master vampire—and the price he demands may be more than Cassie is willing to pay.

Faefever

So I read the third book in the Fever series. This one was Faefever by Karen Marie Moning. Oh my god, I loved it. I could not put it down. I finished it in a day. What sucks is that I can't get the fourth one yet. Oh the torture. I really hope the cliffhanger for Dreamfever is not as bad. Oh, who am I kidding? I'll be going insane waiting for the last book, won't I?
Mac. She still can't trust everyone. She is also becoming more daring. How? Sorry I can't tell you.
Barrons. What is there to say about him? If someone can figure that out, let me know. Who is this man? Or is he even a man? As much as we maybe shouldn't trust Barrons, I still like him with Mac.
V'Lane I still don't think we should trust him.
Christian. I hope we haven't seen the last of him.
Dani. She could be a little sister to Mac.
Darroc. I want to say stuff about him but yeah that would ruin the story for you, lol.
I really want to get into the plot but I know a few of you haven't gotten to this one yet. I don't even know how to give an awesome plot description without ruinning everything. Either way, for those who haven't read it yet. Get on it! :) I should be able to get the fourth book in a couple weeks. I hope.

Goodreads Summary
The New York Times bestselling author of Darkfever and Bloodfever returns to Dublin’s Fae-infested shores in a bold, sensual new novel. Hurtling us into a realm of seduction and shadows, Karen Marie Moning tells the enthralling tale of a woman who explores the limits of her mysterious powers as she enters a world of ancient sorcery—and confronts an enemy more insidious than she could ever have imagined.

He calls me his Queen of the Night. I’d die for him. I’d kill for him, too. When MacKayla Lane receives a torn page from her dead sister’s journal, she is stunned by Alina’s desperate words. And now MacKayla knows that her sister’s killer is close. But evil is closer. And suddenly the sidhe-seer is on the hunt: For answers. For revenge. And for an ancient book of dark magic so evil, it corrupts anyone who touches it.

Mac’s quest for the Sinsar Dubh takes her into the mean, shape-shifting streets of Dublin, with a suspicious cop on her tail. Forced into a dangerous triangle of alliance with V’lane, an insatiable Fae prince of lethally erotic tastes, and Jericho Barrons, a man of primal desires and untold secrets, Mac is soon locked in a battle for her body, mind, and soul.

As All Hallows’ Eve approaches and the city descends into chaos, as a shocking truth about the Dark Book is uncovered, not even Mac can prevent a deadly race of immortals from shattering the walls between worlds—with devastating consequences.…
