Happy Hour of the Damned
Can't believe I waited this long to read Mark Henry's Happy Hour of the Damned. I loved it. I admit I'm not big on zombies but for a zombie book, loved this one. I couldn't help but like the main character Amanda. One day Amanda Feral was just your typical human being and the next minute, she's a zombie. Through her story we learn how she became one, her love, and her new supernatural friends. Did you know vampires and zombies can be friends?
She thinks one of her friends are in trouble so she goes on a mission with the help of her friends to find their friend. Along the way, they found out more than they wanted to. Now she has to deal with finding her friend and deal with zombie outbreaks. She is also learning more about her friends and people she thought she knew.
If you're a zombie fan or want to try out the zombie, check it out.

I'm really sad this is the last book. I almost want to take my time with this one. Title: Shadowfever
Series: Fever
Author: Karen Marie Moning
Goodreads Summary: "Evil is a completely different creature, Mac.
Evil is bad that believes it's good."
MacKayla Lane was just a child when she and her sister, Alina were given up for adoption and banished from Ireland forever.
Twenty years later, Alina is dead and Mac has returned to the country that expelled them to hunt her sister's murderer. But after discovering that she descends from a bloodline both gifted and cursed, Mac is plunged into a secret history: an ancient conflict between humans and immortals that have lived concealed among us for thousands of years.
What follows is a shocking chain of events with devastating consequences, and now Mac struggles to cope with grief, while continuing her mission to acquire and control the Sinsar Dubh--a book of dark, forbidden magic scribed by the mythical Unseelie King that contains the power to create and destroy worlds.
In an epic battle between humans and Fae, the hunter becomes the hunted when the Sinsar Dubh turns on Mac, and begins mowing a deadly path through those she loves.
Who can she turn to? Who can she trust? Who is the woman that haunts her dreams? More importantly, who is Mac and what is the destiny she glimpses in the black and crimson designs of an ancient tarot card?
From the luxury of the Lord Master's penthouse, to the sordid depths of an Unseelie nightclub, from the erotic bed of her lover, to the terrifying bed of the Unseelie King, Mac's journey will force her to face the truth of her exile, and make a choice that will either save the world...or destroy it.
pages and I kind ofwant to take my time on the series. I'm not even sure when the next book comes out. Does anyone know?

Then Claire discovers that Jamie survived. Torn between returning to him and staying with their daughter in her own era, Claire must choose her destiny. Pack of Lies
Can I just say, I love the Paranormal Scene Investigations series. I just finished the second book, Pack of Lies by Laura Anne Gilman and I can't wait for the third one to come out. Which by the way, I hope is soon.We pick up with Bonnie and the team who have been getting cases here and there. So her fear of not having a job? Is no longer a problem. At least for now. The case they are brought into brings in a lot of emotion for the team. A woman was put in danger and they have to figure out what happened, especially when a death is involved. Not only that but a fatae was involved. What is a fatae? A creature only a Talent can see. Well at least the fatae's true self.
While they work on that case, another issue is brought up. What about Aden, Ian's sister? Remember her from the first book? If you haven't read the first book, you'll understand later. Well, she's back in the picture so the team better watch out.
Again, I love this book and I really hope the series continues for awhile. I'm loving the connection between Ben and Bonnie and hope it even grows more. It has to, there is so much there between the two.
If you haven't read Hard Magic yet, I would definitely read that one first before this one.

Blood Stains
I'm not really sure what to think of Blood Stains by Sharon Sala. It wasn't bad but it wasn't a favorite.Maria Slade and her sisters find out the truth about their family. She learns that the mother and father she has always known weren't her real parents. Her real mother was murdered and was a prostitute. Not only that, but she witnessed it as a child.
She might not have ever known her mother but she wants to find the person responsible for killing her. When she arrives in town she gets a little help from Detective Brodie Scott. There is no denying their attraction for each other.
Will the two of them figure out who the killer before it's too late and she joins her mother?
The plot of this story is pretty good. I just wish it wasn't so predictable. You pretty much know who the killer is and there really wasn't much suspense. The writing was great but I felt like she was jumping around with the characters. There were times, we would go from one character's point of view for a paragraph and in the next paragraph you would be in another's character view. It got to the point I was getting confused on who's point of view I was reading.
Please don't let me stop you from reading this. You might like it. I know some people did. For me, I would probably give it a 3 out of 5.

Happy Hour of the Damned
Damned by Mark Henry. I know Melissa and I are enjoying the book. How about you? Have a question we didn't ask? Ask away. Haven't read the book or it's been awhile since you read it? Click here for information on the book. Now let's get talking.Considering the lack of romance and high degree of violence and gore, do you find the cover misleading?
Who is your favorite secondary character and why?
Melissa's
Do you think we will find out why did Amanda's 'creator' pick her to turn her into a zombie? Could he have been looking for someone else and had that energy stored up so used it? Or is there more behind picking Amanda?
Could the message from Liesl's phone have been a trap to get Amanda to go on this escapade? Could this have something to do with why she was turned?
Do you think Claire Bandon is more involved in what's going on than thought?
Do you think Elizabeth Karkaroff is bad, or The Devil, like Amanda was lead to believe?
Robyn's
What would you do if you ate your lover? Would you have a reminder of him somewhere?
What did you think of Shane and Amanda together?

Hard Magic
Bonnie is like many of us out there. She has a college degree and now has to do that one thing we all have to do once we get that degree. It's time to find a job. She is a little different though. She is a talent. Someone who can use magic.
After rejection and more rejection, she gets a call. Two other talents want her and other talents to join them. They are forming an investigation team. Think C.S.I with magic.
She takes the job and tries to help solve a murder that involves two talents. At least they think it's a murder. Everyone else thinks it's a suicide. The team will have to do all the research or spells to figure out who is responsible.
At the same time though, Bonnie is learning you probably shouldn't mix work and pleasure. I liked this book. You get to mix a mystery and urban fantasy together. Maybe I do watch too much C.S.I, but I was reminded of it. Not in a bad way, lol. Even if you aren't a fan of the show, you'll like it.
You do get to see a tiny, very tiny bit of romance but if there is more romance in her future, I have someone in mind, that I wouldn't mind her being with. For more info on the author, click here.

Title: The Body FinderSeries: The Body Finder
Author: Kimberly Derting
Goodreads Summary:
Violet Ambrose is grappling with two major issues: Jay Heaton and her morbid secret ability. While the sixteen-year-old is confused by her new feelings for her best friend since childhood, she is more disturbed by her "power" to sense dead bodies—or at least those that have been murdered. Since she was a little girl, she has felt the echoes the dead leave behind in the world . . . and the imprints that attach to their killers.
Violet has never considered her strange talent to be a gift; it mostly just led her to find dead birds her cat left for her. But now that a serial killer is terrorizing her small town, and the echoes of the local girls he's claimed haunt her daily, Violet realizes she might be the only person who can stop him.
Despite his fierce protectiveness over her, Jay reluctantly agrees to help Violet find the murderer—and Violet is unnerved by her hope that Jay's intentions are much more than friendly. But even as she's falling intensely in love, Violet is getting closer and closer to discovering a killer . . . and becoming his prey herself.

Before she became a zombie, Amanda Feral had everything under control. This sassy Seattle advertising exec and full-time party diva knew how to cope with club leeches and overbearing clients, but fending off the undead is clearly something else. As Amanda gradually adjusts to her new, exceedingly weird identity, she learns important lessons about shapeshifters, reapers, bloodsuckers, dressing to truly kill. A hysterical paranormal debut romp
Title: Hard MagicSeries: Paranormal Activity Scene Investigations
Author: Laura Anne Gilman
Goodreads Summary:
A handpicked team trained to solve crimes the regular police can't touch—crimes of magic.
Welcome to P.U.P.I.—Private, Unaffiliated, Paranormal Investigations
My name's Bonnie Torres. Recent college grad, magic user and severely unemployed. Until I got a call out of nowhere to interview for a job I hadn't applied for. It smelled fishy, but the brutal truth was I needed the work—so off I went.
Two days later I'm a PUPI—me and Nick, Sharon, Nifty and Pietr. Five twentysomethings, thrown into an entirely new career in forensic magic.
The first job we get is a doozy: proving that the deaths of two Talents were murder, not suicide. Worse, there are high-profile people who want us to close up shop and go away. We're sniffing out things they'd rather keep buried.
Looks as if this job is gonna get interesting. The only problem is, we're making it up as we go along….

Never Tempt Danger
The first book of the year that I'm going to mention is Never Tempt Danger by Denise Robbins.Every once in awhile I do like to sneak in a book that doesn't involve vampires, witches, werewolves, etc. Never Tempt Danger is a romantic suspense and I think many of you will like it.
Maureen is working on a project with her boyfriend Jimmy. One day, Jimmy pulls out a box that involves a certain ring and before she knows it, Maureen sees Jimmy's future and it's not a good one.
Despite her vision of his death, there is nothing she can do. He's now gone and it's her mission to finish their project. All she has to do is avoid the people who are out to kill her. But do they want to kill her? Maybe they want to use her.
Don't worry though, she's not alone. She has her ex-boyfriend, Lucas. Who isn't exactly over her. He'll do anything to protect her, especially now.
I really enjoyed this one. I do have to say though, there were a few predictable parts but I think I only predicted a few things because with all the books we read or movies we watch, you get a sense of things. That didn't stop me from enjoying the book, I was still left wondering who was after her.
