American Vampire

The latest book from netgalley is American Vampire by Jennifer Armintrout.

Graf, just your typical vampire was on his way driving a long time to his sire's party. What he wasn't planning on was, being stranded. He ended up in Penance, Ohio.

The first person for him to meet is, Jessa. She needs his help to get away from the monster that is chasing her. He just wants to keep driving and get out of this small town. Maybe he'll even have Jessa for dinner.

There is just one problem. No one can leave Penance, Ohio. In fact, no one can even come into the town. Graf, is the first. It's been five years since this all started.

Graf goes back to Jessa's house with her. The two pretty much start off on the wrong foot. Graf sees her as food and she sees him as trouble. When they get back to her place, he goes to the basement. What does she do? She blocks the basement door so he can't get out.

The two soon find out they might just have to work together as they deal with the monster who is keeping everyone in the town. At the same time, they might have to deal with the town's people first.

Either way, if Graf wants out, he'll have to figure out how to do so.
This book made me think of an Old Twilight Zone episode. Which is actually a good thing. At least for me. Just think about it. Your driving and all of a sudden you realize something isn't right. Before you know it, you hear the announcer guy saying, "You've just crossed over into the Twilight Zone." I enjoyed Graf's character. Jessa, not so much. I liked her as I got to know her but at the beginning, I kept wanting to shake my head at her. Otherwise, I definitely recommend this book.

The Mage in Black Discussion Three

Well we are now in our third discussion for The Mage in Black by Jaye Wells. As always it's never too late to join,We can now discuss the whole book, so let's discuss. Also, keep your eye out for when we announce the next book that we'll be discussing.

Robyn's

- First off, Adam's back! Woo! Moving on, lol. It appears that Adam and Slade know each other. What kind of relationship do you think they have? Are they on good terms? Maybe bad terms? We didn't find out really in this one. Do you think we'll see Slade again? And Sabrina will have to deal with both men?

- How cute is it that our favorite demon has a woman? What did you think of her?

- What vision do you think Maisie might have had?

- The owl. Oh that darn owl. Thoughts?

Melissa's
- Maisie is taken! Do you think she will be unharmed? What do you think Grandma dearest wants with here?

- Do you think Sabina will fess up to here one night with Slade to Adam? Will Adam and Sabina finally be able to work out, together?

- What do you think is in store with the Caste, and having a finger into the different races? Will Sabina and Maisie be able to take their spots in the prophesy? Do you even think the prophesy is true?

Angelfire

Today's book is Angelfire by Courtney Allison Moulton.

Ellie thinks she is
your typical teenager but that's all going to change. First, she sees a boy who she catches staring at her. Seems innocent enough, right? Well, she is about to learn why Will is staring at her and it's going to change her life forever. She has discover that she can see reapers. Not just any reapers but reapers who will take your soul. All she has to do is kill them. That should be easy as pie.

There is just one problem. When she dies, her soul is reborn. The reaper who wants her dead for each of her lifetimes, has a plan for her soul. One that might just keep her from returning.

With Will's help, the two of them will have to figure out how to stop the reapers before it's too late. At the same time of all this, Ellie just wants to have a normal teenage life. I really enjoyed this one.

I'm definitely curious to see where the second book goes. What I liked about this one was, you didn't see stuff coming. I was really surprised by the ending.

If you love angels, heaven, hell stories. Maybe a good young adult book, check this one out.

Shadowfever

Shadowfever is one of those books where you really have to watch what you say, so I'll try and not to spoil anything.

Shadowfever is the last of the Fever book series. I have to say I'm happy and I'm sad. I looked forward to each book and now that I finished the book, I do want some more.

This one picks up right after Dreamfever. For those who read the book will be glad to know you do find out about the ending of that previous book. I had a feeling about what Mac did but I was hoping I was wrong.

Now Mac is joining up with everyone to get the Sinsar Dubh. She might want to help close up the walls to keep the unseelie out but she has other plans. One plan, that might change everything.

Along the way she is discovering more about herself which might not be a good thing. At least she has her family, Dani, Christian, and Barrons to be there for her. Or does she?

What about the unseelie king? She will discover more about him and what she has to do with him.

I was happy with the ending of this book. At the beginning of the book, I was saying things like,
"oh no she didn't," "why!" but before you knew it, I was doing the "OMG", "YES!", or "shut up."

This is definitely one of those books, you won't put down.

The Mage in Black Book Discussion Part One

Hi everyone! It's now time to start the discussion for The Mage in Black by Jaye Wells. Remember even if you have read the whole book, you can join us. If you haven't read the book, it's never too late to join us. We break up the discussion to last three weeks. So if you can't join us this week, join us next week. Let's get this discussion going.

Robyn's Questions

- What was your first impression about Sabrina's twin, Maisie?

- Do you trust the council?

- If the prophecy is correct and Sabrina is the next Lilith. She didn't seem so happy, do you think she will follow through or find a way out of it?

- Who really is the Shade? Is it Slade? Who do you think Slade is?

Melissa's Questions

-We are reminded early on about the owl. Could this owl also be a sign Sabina is the next Lilith? Or did someone send it to watch over her?

-We learn that Adam is sent on another mission for the council. Do you think he will make an appearance in this book again before the end? Will Sabrina and Adam become an item?

-Does anyone else get a feel that Adam might be in relationship to the "Adam" Lilith was with in the garden? Could this be a good or bad sign for Sabrina and Adam?
