Touch of Frost Book Cover

The cover for Jennifer Estep's Touch of Frost has been updated. Here is the latest.
Title: Touch of Frost
Series: Mythos Academy
Author:
Jennifer Estep

Goodreads Summary:

My name is Gwen Frost, and I go to Mythos Academy — a school of myths, magic and warrior whiz kids, where even the lowliest geek knows how to chop off somebody’s head with a sword and Logan Quinn, the hottest Spartan guy in school, also happens to be the deadliest.

But lately, things have been weird, even for Mythos. First, mean girl Jasmine Ashton was murdered in the Library of Antiquities. Then, someone stole the Bowl of Tears, a magical artifact that can be used to bring about the second Chaos War. You know, death, destruction and lots of other bad, bad things. Freaky stuff like this goes on all the time at Mythos, but I’m determined to find out who killed Jasmine and why – especially since I should have been the one who died.

The Darkest Edge of Dawn

Melissa over My World...in words and pages and I finished The Darkest Edge of Dawn by Kelly Gay. I really need to keep up on my posts lately.

This one picks up after the first book. Charlie now realizes she's not exactly human but has alien inside her. To top that off, she helped cause the darkness in their town. No matter what time it is, it's dark.

Just when she thinks she has enough problems dealing with her daughter who is growing up or the demon who has taken over her ex-husbands body. Someone is after her and she might just be seeing her work partner in a whole new light.

Charlie now has to figure out who is killing the supernatural, such as fairies. Also what could that killer want with her?
One way or the other, she is about to find out. Loved this one as well as the first one. I really like the developing relationship between Charlie and Hank. I can't help but also like Rex. Tough decisions.

I can't wait to see what happens next.

This Side of the Grave

As always I enjoyed reading about the newest adventure of Cat and Bones. The latest Night Huntress book is This Side of the Grave by Jeaniene Frost.

Just when Cat thought turning full vampire would stop her from being weird, she was wrong. As a vampire, she needs vampire blood and she can take the power of the vampire she drinks blood from. No one can know and that includes the ghouls.

Apollyon is one ghoul, Cat should watch out for. He wants her dead and will do anything to make sure that happens. He also wants to declare war on the vampires.
Can Bones and Cat stop him before it's too late?

After reading this one, Bones is still my favorite vampire. I don't think I could ever get sick of reading about him. My one disappointment in this one? I would have to say, Ian. I wish we had more Ian for this book. I always look forward to what he has to say.

As always I wish I could talk about the ending but that would give away spoilers. I'll just say, I can't wait to see what a certain person or should I say supernatural being will do in the next book. I'm excited that we don't have to wait too long for the next one. Bring it on! For more information on the author, click here.

Title: Road Trip of the Living Dead
Series: Amanda Feral
Author: Mark Henry
Goodreads Summary:
With her zombie gal pal Wendy and vampy sidekick Gil, celebrity party girl Amanda Feral is ready to take a big bite out of Seattle's supernatural nightlife. But what's a zombie chick to do when her "Mommie Dearest" gets sick? If you're Amanda Feral, you can either ignore the wicked old witch--or bury the past by visiting Ethel before she kicks it.

Packing their stiletto pumps and plasma into a sketchy rattrap on wheels that used to be a Winebago, Amanda, Wendy, and Gil hit the highway. Of course, they'll have to navigate past some neo-Nazi skinheads, a horny dust devil, a hunky werewolf cop, and an unsightly horde of Kmart shoppers. But for this glamorous gang of ghouls, this trip is about to take a dangerous detour that could give road kill a brand new meaning. .

Sleeping Beauty, Vampire Slayer

I'm always curious to see what other authors will come up with next. Who knew you could take a well known fairy tale and add vampires? Okay, I kinda did. I guess it's expected now. We see zombies in Pride and Prejudice. There was Jane Eyre, the slayer. Why not Sleeping Beauty?

Today's book is Sleeping Beauty, Vampire Slayer by Maureen McGowan. Lucette has been cursed since she was a baby. Natasha the vampire queen cursed her family and the kingdom. If one day she pricks her finger, she will sleep. Sounds familiar, I know.

What's interesting on this one is the twist. She trains to be a vampire slayer. She meets Alex, a vampire, who might not be so bad. There is an interesting twist about him, but you'll have to read the book to find that out.

She also meets Tristan, a boy from slayer school. She develops a crush on him but does he feel the same way?

Well before Lucette knows it, she has to save the kingdom and herself. Can she do it before it's too late.

Not much else to say about this one since I'm sure many of you know the Sleeping Beauty tale. I do recommend it though.

I was also reminded of choose your own adventure. I use to love those books as a kid and you get to see something similar to that. You get to decide which path Lucette should take.

I hear McGowan also has one coming out involving Cinderella, the Ninja Warrior. You have to admit, that sounds interesting.

Grimspace, Part Two Discussion

Hi everyone! It's time to discuss Grimspace, part Two. I really do have to say, I can't believe Melissa and I waited this long to read the series. I have a feeling we'll be discussing more of the series.

Let's get started.

Robyn's
1. What future do you think is there between March and Jax? Is it just sex?

2. What is the corp up to? There is so much more that we're missing. Did they want someone dead?

3. Simon. Do you think we'll meet him? Maybe I've read too many triangles but I don't want him getting in the way of Jax and March, lol.

Melissa's
1. What did Svet know that she wanted to share with March? Could the crew picked for the Martins IV mission have been a set up to remove them all, by death?

2. What does Doc see in Jax's brain images? Seems like there is something there that Doc can't seem to believe.

3. Will March and Jax be ackward at all times now? Will they get back that spicey banter they had?

The Darkest Edge of Dawn Discussion part 2

Hello everyone! We are now in discussion two for The Darkest Edge of Dawn. I'm definitely ready to discuss this section.

First off, where it ended? Could I maybe sneak in another chapter? :)

Let's get started.

Robyn's

1. I was definitely caught off guard with Charlie and Hank. I always thought of him as a friend but now I'm not so sure.

2. Again Hank? What's up with him? That doesn't seem like him. Has he felt that way about her for a long time and now is ready to show her? Or is it just to get her going?

3. I still would love to know. What's going on with Charlie's power?

4. We really haven't seen
Grigori Tennin and I keep wondering, will we? Maybe he'll be in the next book. We keep hearing about him.

Melissa's
1. Tennin seems to be at Charlie from all different angles from different avenues and people. Do you think he is trying to control her, and her power?

2. Bryn! What was happening here with her in that warehouse? How did she get there? What made her go there? Could this be Tennin or maybe the Ashe addiction?

3. Charlie was staring at the ruins on the wall and they started to look like a molecular structure. Could this be the new structure of Charlie's system?

4. What did Llyran steal in his home world which he was exiled from? Does this have something to do with the ancient ruins on the walls, his body, and also what Charlies sees in her skin as well?

Alpha

I have to say I am kind of sad that I finished Alpha by Rachel Vincent. I grew to love the characters and when I finished that last page, I wanted more. I wasn't sure I was ready to say good-bye.

This last book picks up where Shift ended. The war is about to start. Faythe has two men to choose from.
Faythe and crew go to stop Malone from taking over. They weren't prepared for what Malone had planned though.

All three; Jace, Marc, and Faythe are in trouble. They are being accused of murder.
That's not the only problem though. Faythe is about to learn what it means to be a leader.

Can Faythe and crew save their pride or is it too late?

We all know I was on Team Jace. In case you aren't too far in the series or don't want to be spoiled, I shall be quiet on who she ends up with. Either way, I was happy how she ended up with "fill in the blank."

One way to tell I loved these characters? There were a few scenes I wanted to let out a tear.
I might be sad it's over and maybe I do want more, but I was happy the way it ended.

The Guy Next Door

I'm a fan of Lori Foster so I was definitely looking forward to The Guy Next Door. You can also catch stories by Susan Donovan and Victoria Dahl. I've never read anything by Donovan or Dahl so I was curious about their writing.

The first story was written by Foster and that was; Ready, Set, Jett. Imagine loving someone but having that fear that they won't love you back. Maybe you're another fling. Natalie feels that way about Jett. Unlike Jett she has never really experienced love. Jett wants to show her though. He loves her and wants to take their relationship to the next level. It might just take a blizzard to show Natalie how much Jett really loves her.

The next story is Gail's Gone Wild by Donovan. Gail goes with her daughter as a chaperone. This will be her daughter's spring break but it will also be a vacation for Gail. Jesse changes her plans. She decides why not have a good time with this sexy man. But how well can you trust someone you just met? Gail is about to find out.

The last one is Just One Taste by Dahl. This one is a prequel to a new trilogy. Eric meets Beth who owns an Erotica shop. The two meet and it seems like love at first sight I'm not sure what else to say about this one. To me there wasn't too much of a plot and not really an ending. I'm still interested to see what the author has up her sleeve though for the characters.

The Screaming Season

The Screaming Season by Nancy Holder

The Mage in Black

Sorry it took so long to post this. As you know Melissa over at My World in...words and pages finished, The Mage in Black by Jaye Wells.

So what were my thoughts on this book? Loved it!

We pick up where we last saw Sabrina. She knows about her sister and heads to New York City to meet her. Poor Sabrina though can't catch a break. Someone wants her dead.

Sabrina does get to meet her sister, Maisie, and the two connect. Despite their differences the twins are there for each other. Just as the two are connecting, Adam leaves her to deal with mage business. Maybe he shouldn't have left her, she runs into Slade. He is an old vampire friend that is definitely way more than a friend. Can she prevent anything from happening before it's too late?

Also Sabrina is discovering what the prophecy might actually mean and what her involvement is. Either way she is not a happy camper.

This is only the second book in the series and I can't wait to see where the next one takes us.
