We are now discussing Magic Bleeds by Ilona Andrews. We are so loving this series. I'm not sure what we'll do when the series ends or we have to wait for the next book.
Let's get started. We stopped after Chapter Seventeen. So if you're at that point, feel free to jump in. If you finished the book, feel free to jump in. You get the picture. :)
Remember spoilers as always.

Melissa's
- Do you think any reasons Ghastek gave for Kate seeing herself in the Undead Magi's mind were right? Or something more here?
-A woman is running these undead magi's. She has to be powerful. What do you think she is after?
-What did Saiman see when Kate took possession of the power word? The words all over her, or was she the woman in the clock as well?
- What about Saiman's business offer? Will it still stand with Kate being with Curran? Will Saiman even live long enough (after his scene) to live up to or take back the offer?
Robyn's
-Going into detail more with Melissa's question. We haven't really been told who Kate looks like more. Could the woman she saw be a younger version of her mother? Or maybe it is Kate and this has to do with what Roland fears. Kate killing him. I just get this feeling it has something to do with Roland.
-Saiman. Should we really trust him? Does he want something more from Kate or is he really just messing with Curran?
- Ted. What's up with him? I'm wondering if we should trust him also. Thoughts on his character? He's just a pain for Kate or is there something else there? Especially if he finds out about Kate's blood. Maybe he is just one of those bosses, you just have to deal with.
- What do you think of Kate's new pet? Will he stick around? Will he play a role in all that's been going on? Or is he just your typical dog?

Hey! :D I'm so glad we are at Thursday and the half way point. I SOOOOO Can't wait to get reading and finish this book! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI know. I want to get everything discussed so we can start up again on Sunday, haha.
DeleteSo I need to apologize in case there are any comments that don't make any sense. I was feeling light headed last night when I started commenting. And having troubles remembering and seeing straight. I ate while on, and it started to clear up. It was just very strange. I guess my body needed food more than I thought last night.
DeleteI'm not sure how to ask. I'm not sure what Siaman saw with Kate and the power word. Was he seeing the words she already owns or was there something futuristic he is seeing?
ReplyDeleteI didn't know if anyone would ever see the power words marked on her, then disappear.
It was strange that it was only there for a minute and Siaman saw it. Then it was gone.
I think there is more to Saiman that means the eye. Maybe he can see things others can't.
DeleteNow that he knows about her, makes me worried for her. What will he do?
Ooooo, yes! I wonder if his "godly" side saw something others don't see. That is very very possible! I didn't think of that.
DeleteI don't think he'll tell anyone or do anything. He can use his "friend" Kate to his advantage and her powers too. He needs the help she can give. hee hee.
Do you think Saiman would blackmail Kate somehow to do what he wants?
DeleteNah, I think he got the crap scared out of him by Curran. And he's not stupid. He knows there is something between Kate and Curran. He just likes walking that fine line. lol. I think he knows if he tried to blackmail Kate she alone would tear him limb from limb, and Curran too. lol
DeleteThat could be entertaining, haha. It will be interesting to see if Kate takes him up on his offer to work for him.
DeletePart of me hopes so. I like Saiman, and even more after reading Magic Strikes. hee hee.
DeleteI'm really curious as to who this woman is that is running the Undead Mages. I wonder who she is, and she has to be one strong character. To have these Undead mages and that they are not growing weak like The Peoples vampires. The vampires grow thinner and stuff, but these Magic Undead seem to contain a memory and powers that are not growing weaker. Just really strange.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how they have held this ability for so long, and why did it take so long to come around to the world?
I don't know what the woman who controls these Undead is looking for.
I'm not sure about the woman yet. I'm kind of curious as to what she wants. And with men??? Why not the females? Did some man hurt her? What is going on???
DeleteYes, I picked up on the woman at the bar being the only one not affected like the men. It seems like she might have a power over men, to hit their rage, or maybe even lust?, parts of their brains.
DeleteI'm really curious to see about this woman. And yes, what happened to her to use men, and abuse men too.
Curran better be careful.
DeleteOh no! I never thought about Curran! He could go scared or major rage on Kate!?! What do you think?
DeleteI have a feeling something will happen where he'll go crazy on her or something.
DeleteI have to say this book was the most difficult stop I have come across yet in our chats. lol. I did NOT want to stop at all!
ReplyDeleteSeriously. I was like, wait. No, I want to keep going.
DeleteI did read a few pages. Nothing really into the plot, but to finish the heat of the moment thoughts. lol.
DeleteGhastek gave Kate some great reasons as to why she saw herself in the Undead Mage's mind. I still wonder why she saw herself and not the woman actually in charge. It is a very good possablity that Ghastek was right in the ability used to not show the hidden leader, to only show the last person they saw.
ReplyDeleteBut I wonder if her blood was found in the cage she was in with Magic Strikes and it is used to create things from and with it. But I'm not sure how yet. Could there be a double of Kate somewhere? Or could someone have used her blood to create another her? Or what? lol.
There weren't any woman when she was in the cage, were there? I'm trying to recall if there was mentioned about one. Maybe that woman got her blood?
DeleteIf that was really Kate. Maybe she is more powerful then she realized.
I think I'm stuck on the blood thing with the cage. I don't know, Kate has drilled in out heads how important and powerful her blood is, and after what she did with that sword I worry. But Roland has to know she's around, how else could Hugh explain what happened to a magiced sword, his magiced sword.
DeleteI don't think there was anyone else around at the cage, just people that wouldn't help her. Oh!! I think there was a female that talked to her and translated to the guy! There was a female there!
Maybe she is the woman behind it all??
DeleteIt could be, or any woman at this point.
DeleteAnd we need to know. :)
DeleteI wonder if Kate will take Saiman up on his business offer. Her having her own PI company would be really neat, and all the equipment he offered here. Wow! It would give her freedom compared to being with the Knights.
ReplyDeleteSaiman was really trying hard to get back at Curran, but it scared the crap out of him! LOL! I hope Curran can contain himself with Saiman around. And especially now that it is proven that Kate and Curran are serious, together.
Maybe something will happen with the Knights and Order that Kate will quit and have to work with Saiman. But Curran will have to be able to let her work with Saiman.
I can't see her working for Saiman. I just can't see Curran allowing this. If she decides to do so. There will be one huge fight on their hands.
DeleteI know! I can't see Curran letting go and letting Kate work for Saiman. That is one thing that will drive him to complete possessiveness. lol. But, then again, maybe since he knows she is his, he would be okay with it. But he will surely try to keep Saiman in line. lol!
DeleteBut that would really make the story interesting! And I love what Saiman can do, and know knows about kate!
I could see Curran forcing someone to be with her at all times. Maybe Derek will become her bodyguard or something again, hahaha.
DeleteI do love my Derek! I want to see him more again soon. ;)
DeleteYeah :)
DeleteI'm looking forward to seeing more with Roland. Or even with Hugh. I wonder if Hugh has mentioned to Roland about Kate yet, or is he just gathering information yet.
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering is we are getting into troubles with the Undead Mages and if they are in relation somehow to Roland running things.
It seems that the person in charge of the Undead Mages are out to kill the Shifters and The People. But, when Kate was instructed to go to the People, I started to worry that it was a trap to get her in there and they (Hugh & Roland) could see her better, and keep an eye on her...to trap her.
I really worry about her working so close with them, that they will capture her.
I have a feeling we'll see Hugh before we see Roland. Hugh will be his watcher. Hugh will probably take notes for Roland. I'm sure though Hugh has to know where Kate learn to fight. Which could mean trouble for Kate.
DeleteOh yes! Hugh will recognize her style immediately, if has hasn't already after the arena fighting. He was trained by her father as well. But I think she will have to fight Hugh before it comes to Roland she goes head to head with too. And I'm looking forward to both fights!
DeleteI could see Kate killing Hugh and Roland coming after her for doing so.
DeleteI just think Roland will send his big guns after Kate first. But I think Hugh won't mention to Roland just yet until he has all the facts that Kate is Rolands daughter. I don't think he would want to upset Roland just yet, in case it's not true.
DeleteThat's true or Hugh has something up his sleeve, haha.
DeleteLOL! I think Saiman will take what he can get from Kate, if she would sleep with him. But he knows she won't. She resists him. But, when he saw her reports and that she has a strong magic too...well, I think he wants to work with her because he knows she could really help him and make a difference in cases.
ReplyDeleteI think we could trust him. But he does like to torment all those around him... Curran more than any. lol
I wonder if we'll see a fight between Curran and Saiman. Or will Saiman be too chicken, haha.
DeleteI think Saiman can go toe to toe with Curran, it's just his nature...he doesn't want to. He just likes to tease. Lokie! lol
DeleteBut Curran being the cat he is, will have to do something with Saiman, especially after trying to humiliate him like that.
I'm curious to know what will happen when the two meet again because you know they will.
DeleteOH yes, they will. lol. I wonder if it's going to be a muscle comparing and flexing conversation. lol.
DeleteI was THRILLED! to see that Curran and Kate got together. :) Now if things will keep going for them, or are they going to fight? I hope they keep a level of banter between them. I really like the way they are both strong characters and can stand alone.
ReplyDeleteBut I'm soooo glad they are together. :) I really was hoping they would match up.
I hope they stay together but I could see them having issues. I think it's going to take awhile before they can stay in a relationship and not want to fight.
DeleteOh I think they are perfect together, and the fire between them fuels it, making every moment together worth more. lol.
DeleteI hope they don't loss the fight they have, at least not all of it. ;D
I just wonder if it will be a we got them together and then boom! Something happens.
DeleteTed... hmmm, I think if he finds out about Kate and Curran being a couple, all heck is going to break loss. He is NOT going to want Kate around. He doesn't think any Shifter should be alive, very prejudice. And I worry about Andrea as well! With being a were- if she gets found out, she will lose her job. Both of these ladies could easily lose their jobs and be out of luck.
ReplyDeleteI just hope Ted doesn't try to eliminate different shifters, since he doesn't like them or think they should be alive.
I'm more nervous for Andrea than Kate. Once Andrea is discovered, there will be trouble.
DeleteHa! Yes, Andrea really has built her life around the Order, and I'm really hoping she doesn't get caught. But she is starting to walk a fine line to me, and I think she just might. Her and the were-hyena are together, which even that could loss her, her job.
DeleteI'm keeping my fingers crossed for Andrea. One she could get fired but worse, she could get killed. I like her and don't want to see her go.
DeleteHer and Kate have a good friendship. Kate doesn't usually get those. Although if something were to happen to Andrea, I could see Kate going for revenge.
Well, I'm cheating now. But you do know Andrea has her own spin off novel, right? I can't wait for it to come out...I think June?
DeleteI do. :)
DeleteOh I love Kate's new pet! LOL Grendel is his name. And he's a poodle. lol! That is to funny. He really seems to enjoy staying with Kate and being by her side. I wonder what he will find out, and what all he has to do with the bar scene. You know there has to have been something going on to keep him around.
ReplyDeleteIt does seem that all animals, even the were-shifters, run from this Disease Man. All are scared of him, and the animal takes off the other way. But I just keep thinking there is more to happen with Grendel...but what?
You know I'm trying to imagine him as a poodle but I just want to see a fluffy little dog, haha.
DeleteI worry about Grendel. I don't want to get attached and then have him die.
Ha ha! I have to say when Saiman took Kate to that dinner, I didn't know what to expect. But when Jim walked in, then more were-shifters, I knew Curran was coming. I just said, "On sh*t" lol. I didn't know what was going to happen. But it was awesome the way Curran followed Kate though.
ReplyDeleteAnd to see Saiman running so scared! LOL! That was perfect! Saiman never realized Curran would risk everything for Kate.
Haha, I had a feeling Curran would be there before we even saw Jim. I kept thinking. What would happen if Curran walked through the door.
DeleteLOL You were a step ahead of me. I was wondering what was going to jump out at kate this time and try to fight her. ;D LOL Never thought Curran, although I wanted to see him very soon again in the book. So it was a wonderful surprise for me. :D
DeleteI just had a feeling. :)
DeleteAnd the tricks Curran and Kate pulled on each other. LOL! I thought the weight bench might have been a little to far. But the catnip on his bed! LOL! And the door to the ladies room. That was perfect!
ReplyDeleteThen Curran gluing Kate to her chair. lol. He could have done a lot worse, but it was really good, and her donut! LOL!
Oh and he brought her a maid costume. lol. I wonder if that will have to be used and if Kate will still have to clean his bed for him, now.
It will be interesting to see how Curran can get Kate to wear the maid costume.
DeleteI loved that part though. I thought that was great of Curran to glue her to the chair. Well not great, haha. But you know what I mean.:)
Yes, great! A big man and half beast, going easy on Kate with gluing her to her chair. lol.
DeleteAnd he has never acted this way with any other female! Kate is the first, and sounds to me only one. ;D
I think Curran really likes her and will make sure she stays. Maybe he realizes she is mate for good. No going back.
DeleteYeah, he's mentioned she is his mate... maybe that was in the short with Curran and Jim. Ga! I read all this stuff and forget if it's in the book or a short from Curran's view. But he does think she is his for life.
DeleteI hope so. :)
DeleteBut I'm really curious about this woman behind the Undead Mages. Really has me curious. I wonder what she is really working at and how does she have such strong powers?
ReplyDeleteAnd maybe she is affiliated with Roland, somehow. But why go after the People as well?
At one point I even wondered if this woman was the one that Bran worked for. If she was on a mission of some sort. But I don't know what she would be after, and she already has her "man."
I bet she is working for Roland but I'm not sure why. What does Roland hope to use her for? Does he know that Kate has a connection with the shifters through Hugh? Could he be trying to get rid of the shifters before he goes for Kate? You know he'll have to get through Curran.
DeleteYes. I'm wondering on that myself. I can see wanting to take out the Shifters. But she is sending these undead mages after The People too. Which are Rolands. So I'm not sure what the tie is here yet. I really want to know.
DeleteAnd yes! Curran is going to have to get in the middle of this. Did you read the short story after Magic Strikes where Jim takes information of Kate's dads to him?
I did.
DeleteSpeaking of Kate's dad. :) How much do you think Curran knows? He isn't stupid. He has to know who her real father is or at least have an idea.
I've read this book like donkey's years ago (a very long time ago) and could barely remember it... but am jumping into the discussion anyway...
ReplyDeleteI think the dog will stay for two reasons: 1.) it seems like the dog adopted Kate, not the other way around; 2.) everybody in the witchy circles seems to have a pet of some sort or another so the story line to be consistent to that magic rule, will have to give Kate a pet too, the dog seems like a logical choice.
I really hope he stays. :)
DeleteHey Cherry! Thanks for stopping by the chat! :D I'm really enjoying this book.
DeleteI'm thinking the dog is a permanent fixture to Kate as well. It was the dog that took to Kate, and I think it's going to be hard to send him else where. And even though she says she doesn't want a dog, she is getting attached to him as well.
And he seems to not have to bad a thing with Curran. ;D LOL!
Thank you for stopping by to chat with us!
Okay, digging back in tonight!! :D Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteMe too. :)
