Blade Song Book Thoughts

When I heard J.C. Daniels aka Shiloh Walker wrote an Urban Fantasy novel, I have to admit I got a little excited. Love her romance books and we all know I love Urban Fantasy. So yes, I got a little too excited. Found out I could get it from Netgalley so you know I hit the request button right away.

Not sure how many books will be in the series but I know I'll look forward to each one. Today we start with Blade Song.

Our heroine goes by the name Kit Colbana. She is half-human and half-aneira. Think warrior woman. She carries a sword with her that sings to her. It helps her fight or in some cases survive.

Her latest job is with the cats. The Alpha Queen wants Kit to find her nephew, Doyle. Alpha Queen has provided Kit with help, Damon, a shifter. If only the two could get along.

As the two look for Doyle, the two will discover that something isn't right. The shifters and even witches are in trouble. Can Kit and Damon figure out what is going on before it's too late?

If you like the Kate Daniel series, I think you'll like this book.

Not sure where the next book will take us but I'm up for an adventure. Blade Song in the meantime comes out on Tuesday. Remember to check it out.

I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have to Kill You Book Thoughts

Every once in a blue moon I do like to read a young adult book that has nothing to do with the supernatural. One author I enjoyed so far is, Ally Carter. Okay I've only read one of her books, Heist Society. I really enjoyed the book though. I probably should have the read the next Heist Society Book, Uncommon Criminals. Instead I decided to pick up the first book in the Gallagher Girls series, I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I Would Have to Kill you. I'm glad I did.

The main character Cammie Morgan is not your typical teenager unless you count being trained as a spy typical. She attends Gallagher for Girls where the students are being trained. Her mother, Rachel Morgan is headmistress to the school. That should make life a piece of cake, right? Well not really.

If there is one thing she can't talk to her mom about, it's a boy. He was someone she met while on an assignment. She will definitely have to use her spy skills to hide Josh from her mother and crew. It shouldn't be too hard. Well maybe not, especially when Josh might get in the way of an important class assignment that just might reveal everything about her.

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what other adventures Cammie will encounter.

The Woman in Black Book Thoughts

If I find out a movie is based off a book, you know I have to get the book as soon as possible. In most cases the book is better for me. Not sure though that is the case with The Woman in Black by Susan Hill.

The book wasn't bad. It had a lot of great descriptions and emotions. What disappointed me was the fact that I didn't get scared like I had for the movie. Maybe it's me or maybe it's because I saw the movie first. Who knows? I enjoyed the book though either way.

This is a story of Arthur Kipps early life. He was starting out in his career when his boss sent him off to deal with the passing of Mrs. Drablow and the paperwork left for them to sort out.

Once there he is greeted by people of the town. While at the funeral he sees a mysterious woman wearing all black. Not giving up he continued on and kept working, even if it meant risking his own life. One thing is for sure the woman in black haunts Arthur until she can't any longer, which means it could be until his death.

If you're looking for a good ghost story, check it out. If you haven't seen the movie yet, my advice is read the book first.

City of Lost Souls Book Thoughts

The latest adventure in the Mortal Instruments series is City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare.

We pick up from City of Fallen Angels where Jace and Sebastian went missing. I won't say anything else in case you haven't read the previous book.

The Clave don't care about the well being of Jace. They want to see Sebastian dead. If Jace has to die. So be it. Those who do care for Jace want to save him and if it means risking their lives, they'll do it.

Clary finds Jace and Sebastian. Well actually the two boys come to her. She'll play along to save Jace, her love. Sebastian? Who cares if the two are brother and sister?

While Clary is trying to save Jace, the rest of the gang work together to find a way to split Jace and Sebastian apart. A mission to destroy the bond that is keeping them together. Is it worth it though? Should they risk their lives to save one person?

Sebastian has a plan in action. Can the gang stop him before he destroys the world? Will good overcome the evil that is coming?

Loved this book and can't wait until the next one. Hope we don't have to wait a long time. You are definitely left wanting the next book. Darn you cliffhangers!

Team Human Book Trailer

Title: Team Human
Series: N/A
Author: Justine Larbalestier, Sarah Rees Brennan
Goodreads Summary:
Just because Mel lives in New Whitby, a city founded by vampires, doesn't mean she knows any of the blood-drinking undead personally. They stay in their part of town; she says in hers. Until the day a vampire shows up at her high school. Worse yet, her best friend, Cathy, seems to be falling in love with him. It's up to Mel to save Cathy from a mistake she might regret for all eternity

On top of trying to help Cathy (whether she wants it or not), Mel is investigating a mysterious disappearance for another friend and discovering the attractions of a certain vampire wannabe. Combine all this with a cranky vampire cop, a number of unlikely romantic entanglements, and the occasional zombie, and soon Mel is hip-deep in an adventure that is equal parts hilarious and touching.

Acclaimed authors Justine Larbalestier and Sarah Rees Brennan team up to create a witty and poignant story of cool vampires, warm friendships, and the changes that test the bonds of love.
